2026 Lent Worship Series

This Lent, we invite you to join our “All In” worship series, from Ash Wednesday (February 18) through Easter Sunday (April 5). Together we’ll explore what it means to go “all in” with God’s love – practicing faith that is honest, hopeful, and shaped for everyday life. Come each week as we journey from wilderness to resurrection, learning again that God goes all in for us first.

Lenten Bible Study

Ted Blaisdell is looking to guide a Bible/Book study during Lent (February 18-April 4) on the book The Prodigal God by Timothy Keller. This is a detailed study of the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15) with a unique emphasis on the importance of the elder brother. It is a real eye opener and perfect for a Lenten reflection. Ted intends for this to be an in-person study with 6 sessions of 60-90 minutes. Actual dates and times will be determined by interested members. Ted will have copies of the book available to buy or you can purchase one from Amazon. Please touch base with Ted at church if you would like your name on the list or contact him at hagrid417@gmail.

Family Movie Day – Saturday, 3/7!

Join us for a fun family movie on Saturday, March 7th from 2-4pm. Bring a blanket, stuffy, or wear your PJs, grab some popcorn, and enjoy a cozy afternoon! Snacks and drinks provided. All are welcome to attend!

Afghan Family Catering

The next opportunity to purchase food for take-out will be Saturday, March 7th. The menu is TBD. If you would like to get on the email list to be notified about upcoming meals and place orders, please email zahidorders@gmail.com.

WUMC Book Club

Please join the Wesley Book Club on March 16th, 2026 at 9:30am to discuss My Antonia by Willa Cather. “Through Jim Burden’s endearing, smitten voice, we revisit the remarkable vicissitudes of immigrant life in the Nebraska heartland, with all its insistent bonds. Guiding the way are some of literature’s most beguiling characters: the Russian brothers plagued by memories of a fateful sleigh ride, Antonia’s desperately homesick father and self-indulgent mother, and the coy Lena Lingard. Holding the pastoral society’s heart, of course, is the bewitching, free-spirited Antonia.” Goodreads.

Contact Gerry Harvey for the Zoom link. The Wesley Book Club reads a wide range of titles and meets monthly to discuss what we have read. Join us for one meeting or come regularly. If you have a favorite book, share it with us!

Pasta Bar Mission Dinner & Auction

Join us on Saturday, March 21st for an evening of fun for the entire family! Funds from dinner ticket sales will benefit a Missions project, and auction proceeds will be used towards the general budget. Prison Ministry Backpacks

Once again, we are excited to participate in the prison ministry backpack project during Lent. The project is designed to provide women who are being released from the Western Mass Regional Women’s Correctional Center with backpacks stuffed full of necessary items (toiletries, snacks, inspirational items, etc.). Our church’s participation in this project has been very successful due to the generous support of the congregation. This year, we have purchased 10 backpacks to fill. There is a sign-up sheet in the Great Hall for a variety of items – please bring all items to church by March 15th. If you would prefer to make a financial donation to purchase supplies, you can place a cash or check donation in an envelope in the offering plate or donate on the church website. Questions can be directed toward Sarah Serwa (sserwa@gmail.com), or Diane Mercomes (dmerco@rcn.com). Thank you so much for your ongoing support!

Sunday School Volunteers Wanted!

Have you been looking for a new or different opportunity to give back to the church? Volunteer as a Sunday School assistant! We are looking for people to join our roster of assistants. Please contact Emily Dattilo (education.director@wesleyfamily.org) if interested!

Craig’s Doors

We continue to collect supplies for the local homeless population. The most needed items are: adult winter clothing, shoes, and gear (new or gently used); adult-sized socks and underwear (new); adult-sized sleeping bags (new or gently used); tarps; hand and toe warmers (new); toiletries (new), and feminine hygiene products (new). Donations can be placed in the bin in the church entrance. Thanks!

Not Bread Alone

Each Saturday, Wesley volunteers help at CHD’s Not Bread Alone, Amherst’s soup kitchen. Our tasks are to pick up donated food from Whole Foods (some weeks), make fruit salad, make sandwiches (some weeks), and sort and display donated produce. It is a short time commitment (typically 9–10:30am), but our consistent help is always greatly appreciated. You can volunteer as little or often as you would like. If interested, please email Ruth Harms to be added to the monthly emails with the volunteer sign up.

Healing Prayer Group

Healing Prayer continues to be offered by the Healing Prayer Ministry. We meet each Thursday, but we pray all week long. If you have a prayer request of any kind at all, please contact Nancy or Richmond with your request and we will pray with you and for you. We promise you a 100% confidentiality and full respect and to be sensitive to your circumstances.
