Community Events

This page provides information on community events that may be of interest to Wesley members, community events taking place at Wesley, or community events that involve members of our Wesley family.  Please take advantage of these opportunities to support and participate in events in our local community.
  Correctional Center Volunteers Needed
The Western Massachusetts Regional Women's Correctional Center (WCC) in Chicopee seeks volunteers for their Mother/Child Visit Program on Saturday mornings from 9:30 - 11 am.  The goal of the program is to support incarcerated moms with maintaining their mother-child bond despite the difficult challenges of incarceration and separation.  As a volunteer in this program, your primary responsibility would be to monitor, support, and role model healthy mother-child interactions in a safe, clean, and child-friendly environment.  Please call Tracy Burton for details at 413.730.6952.
Habitat for Humanity:  Building a Better World Locally and Globally
Building a better world, one house at a time, is exactly the goal of Habitat for Humanity.  Join us in the Woodbury Room of the Jones Library on Thursday, August 10 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm to learn about this remarkable organization and what is happening right here and around the globe.  Some of those communities are right here in the Pioneer Valley – including Amherst.
Since 1989 over 39 homes have been built in Hampshire and Franklin counties by Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity, almost exclusively by volunteers – and, importantly, by the future homeowners themselves. But Habitat is about more than just building houses – it is about empowerment, community, and fostering hope, strength, stability and self-reliance. Free and open to the public.
